here is an antique (circa 1895-1920) Ironstone China Plate that says "Compliments of John M Dean Co. RHODE ISLAND STATE CAPITOL" The transfer is a image of the old state house in black that appears as blue in the photos and in some varying lights. or a bluish gray color. the John M Dean Co. was a well known downtown Providence Furniture and Decorative arts store on Westminster St. in the late 1800's and early 1900's. Plate measures 8 1/2" across and is sunken in center, a heavy piece of pottery made by "ETRURIA-MELLOR & Co. / COOK POTTERY in Trenton NJ. the edges are painted in gold gilt trim, the plate has numerous high relief decorative Victorian scrolled floral work. the ironstone china plate was a gift from the business to customers. no chips or cracks to plate, there is some very light crazing in a few spots and the camera shows a pronounced darkish coloring at lower bottom center of plate that can't be seen in person. this is from the slight crazing. please view all pics. and read full item condition.
